General Overview and Overseer Listing
In accordance with 的 laws of 的 Commonwealth and regulations enacted by 的 Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, 这篇作文, duties and powers of 的 Salem State University 校董会 are articulated within 的 university's bylaws. The board is charged with 的 fiduciary management of 的 institution, including determination of fees, establishment of personnel management policy, 员工服务, and 的 general business of 的 institution. 在其职责中, 的 board elects 的 president with 的 approval of 的 Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, adopts an annual plan of financial operation, awards degrees in approved fields, and develops 的 mission statement for 的 university consistent with 的 mission of 的 Commonwealth's system of public higher education.
The board of trustees consists of 11 voting members. Ten members are appointed by 的 governor, at least two are alumni of 的 university and one of whom is elected 的reto by 的 university alumni association. Elected alumni members shall be elected every five years. Members are appointed to serve for five year terms, but no member shall be appointed for more than two consecutive terms. Student members are elected by 的 student body and serve one year.
Regular meetings of 的 full board are held four times annually and are open to 的 public with 的 exception of executive sessions. Committees of 的 board convene prior to each open meeting and on an as-needed basis. The board currently has five standing committees: executive, academic affairs and student life, 风险管理和审计, 资金和设施, 进步, marketing and communications. Meetings usually take place on 的 Salem State University campus.
